1. Information We Collect

When you create or use an account, we collect the information needed to operate your account. This may include your name, username, email address, Google account ID if you use Google sign-in, profile photo, and optional profile details such as date of birth, gender, class level, subjects, province, district, school, and bio. If you use email/password sign-in, passwords are stored only as one-way password hashes, not as plaintext.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve NEBians services: displaying your profile, enabling forum discussions, personalizing content, and communicating with you about your account or our services.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Public profile information such as display name, username, photo, and bio may be visible to other users. If you lock your profile, personal details, stats, and activity are hidden from other users. Your email address, password hash, reset/verification code hashes, and account identifiers are not shared publicly. We may share information if required by law or to protect our rights.

4. Data Security

We use security controls such as HTTPS-only production cookies, CSRF protection, password hashing, verification-code expiry, rate limits, and restricted administrative access. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Your Choices

You can edit profile information from the Edit Profile page, lock your profile to make personal details private, and change your password if you use email/password sign-in. You can request account deletion by contacting us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

7. Children's Privacy

NEBians is designed for students aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
